Awakening Dreams is a collection of contemplative paintings using oil pastels and contemplative poetry. Most of the paintings and poetry relate to experienced meditative and contemplative states.
Then with eyes open, simply allow whatever inspired thoughts or feelings come to you while viewing the painting. You may have a completely different intuition about the painting than I did. This is quite natural, as everyone brings lifetimes of experience to whatever we perceive. The paintings are accessed by the "Art Gallery Indexes" link in the menu above. There are 8 art galleries, each containg 16 paintings. I have a Free Screensaver of all the paintings on the site (125). The link to download it is on my newsletter sign up page. Feel free to sign up if you wish. I send out an email aprox once per month. It contains updates to my site IE new paintings or poetry, and any new posts on my blog about personal growth and my paintings and poetry. The screen saver is yours free wether you sign up or not. Purchase 128 High Resolution images in Zip File I started painting in 1994 mainly as a result of the spiritual practises I follow, which gave me an urge to do something creative. My contemplative paintings and poetry, among other things, were the result. When I paint, I am simply trying to convey a spiritual feeling or contemplative state. I usually do not have any idea of what the painting will look like in shape or color prior to starting. I simply pick a color intuitively and start applying it to my canvas. Then when a shape appears, I build from that, if the shape looks like a boat, then that is what it becomes. When I feel a resonance within me of the spiritual feeling I was trying to convey, and what I see before me on my canvas, then I know I am finshed. This is when I feel a rush of thankfullnes or gratitude for being able to be the vehicle for the creation of the painting I am looking at. The above is a summary of my contemplative painting process. It doesn't always happen like this. However I know that my best work comes when I follow the above process. So why did I call my website Awakening Dreams.com? It is the title of one of the very first paintings I ever did. So it was an awakening of a dream of mine to be able to paint, hence the name. Click here if you would like to view it now.
